It appears that not only Indiana Website Design has it out for Vista

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Well, it’s release after release.  Walmart reaming into Microsoft for the incapable software - now it’s Dell releasing notes that stated extreme errors in the OS release of Windows Vista and their extreme dissatisfaction with the way it was delivered and the state it was delivered in.  Although it does not sound like Microsoft was surprised by this criticism.  Indiana Website Design has not suffered much from the release of Vista, but many PC retailers are not happy about the whole process and Microsoft has been in the news a lot lately (and its not positive publicity either).  There are many unhappy Indiana Website Design users that upgraded to Windows Vista and after so many problems, went back to XP.  It has not been a successful copy of the Mac Platform for Microsoft.  Maybe they should worry more about fixing the crap they have already messed up before they try and copy the cool things others are doing, eh?  Indiana Website Design hopes to see some sort of resolution for those companies who have experienced difficulty with the Windows Vista OS.

Google makes things easier for Indiana Small businesses | but what about Indiana Web Design?

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Google launched new web design tools today that may make things a bit more difficult for securing Indiana Web Design smaller budgeted projects.  Google claimed to have added an “edit button to the internet.”  Although this may mean a loss of some projects for Indiana Web Design - most likely it is an overall win for everyone.  Those companies with limited budgets will be able to create a website with ease and they don’t have to stress the company finances to get a website online.  It also creates more web traffic and hype, which is positive for everyone.  All-in-all we believe it is a positive move for Indiana Web Design as a whole and enjoy seeing Google continue to press their creative boundaries (especially if it’s at the expense of Microsoft).  If you desire to work with Indiana Web Design professionals on your Indiana Web Design project, contact us today.

Redone Apple MacBook [Pro] is the envy of Indiana Website Design

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Indiana Website Design Studio | McGlinchy Media & Design, LLC, from its conception, has been a Mac fan.  When the MacBook Air was introduced, we wanted to add it to our collection of amazing Apple products.  Now, today - we hear that the MacBook and MacBook Pro have been upgraded, overjoyed!  New touch-pad features that the MacBook Air is sporting, larger hard-drive, more RAM standard option….  and so on.  Indiana Website Design is waiting for the right moment to upgrade machines and add the newest addition to our growing Mac family.  We have completely enjoyed the Mac Platform for Indiana Website Design and are looking forward to many years working together.  We do have one windows PC - its in the basement holding files and we visit it every so often - only when we have to though.  Indiana Website Design and Mac go hand in hand, in our opinion.

Indiana Website Design concludes Microsofts strategy - if you can’t beat them, buy them

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Well, everyone, not just Indiana Website Design companies, know that Microsoft is no leader in the Search Engine Market.  MarketShare.com (a third party statistics website) reported that for the month of January 2008, Microsoft held a whopping 3.43% for MSN - Global and another whopping 2.59% for Microsoft Live Search.  Not even remotely close to the Search Engine Guru, Google - who held 77.11% of all searches worldwide for the month of January 2008.  Yahoo came in with 12.23% of the market.  But, it seems that Microsoft can’t stand losing, so what do Indiana Website Design companies (along with everyone else) see in the news today?  Nothing other than an “unsolicited $44.6 billion cash and stock bid for Yahoo on Friday” as reported on CNN.  So, they know they suck at building an effective search structure, so they have to buy one.  But apparantly it is at a time when Yahoo is faltering.  Announcing job layoffs and uncertian future for the second largest Search Engine company - but the possible aquisition of Yahoo by Microst Corp. could be a positive for Google?  This could bring negative spin to the ever growing “giant” and nobody likes the spoiled little rich kid that isn’t cool enough to have friends, so he buys his popularity and friendship - with moves like this, microsoft is that little rich kid.

Now, please - these are simply the rambelings of a sold out Mac fan who only keeps windows around to make sure  Indiana Website Design projects look decent in IE (I left out the sarcastic comments this time), so check out the story and decide for yourself.

Two Continents face Internet Failure | fortunately not Indiana web design

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Parts of Asia and Africa were hit with an Internet failure as found by Indiana Web Design this morning on CNN.  It appears that there was an “undersea [Internet] cable failure in the Mediterranean” and that many countries within Asia, the Middle East and Africa have had their Internet severly altered.  Many of the businesses within these contries have satalite back-up connections, but it has left many other businesses scrambling to continue as usual.  Indiana Web Design can only imagine the headache of losing the largest factor in your business.  Fortunatly, it appears that the problematic area has been determined and work is underway to restore the loss of Internet connection for these countries.  The internet has become such a vibrant part of business around the world and many businesses, including Indiana Web Design, rely on the Internet for a majority of their business operations.  Indiana Web Design hopes that the problems are resolved quickly so that Middle East, Asain and African businesses can continue on as usual.

Benifits of SEO for Indiana Website Design

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

SEO is on the rise for Indiana web design.  Many companies are realizing the value of ranking well with search engines.  More competition from SEO companies means lower SEO pricing, resulting in better services for small business website design.  SEO is very costly and quite time consuming and definitely specialized.  More options does not nessicarily mean the same results.  Some SEO companies still trust old methedoligy for higher ranking, and some of the older methods used for higher Search Engine Ranking will get a site banned now.  SEO companies need to be on the forefront of all that is happening in the SEO world.  Google is the top Search Engine.  One report stated that their share of the Search Engine Market is up to 66% (on the rise) while Yahoo (20.9%) and MSN (just over 7%) declined in the month of December.  So, it shows the high importance of playing by Google’s rules for ranking.

Opera for Goshen, Indiana Web Design

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

Well, as an Indiana Web Design company in Goshen, Indiana - we try to stay afloat on the happenings in the web design/web development world.   Our development methods mainly focus around the major browsers (Firefox, Safari - oh yeah… and unfortunately, Internet Explorer).   We have not in the past focused much on the smaller web browsers - but that may be changing.  After reading an interview Jan Standal, director of the Opera product management and developer relations team, and Chris Mills, Opera’s developer relationship manager and we were quite impressed with the new ideas on the horizon for Opera.  It apears that there are some great features in the works for the next release of the Opera website browser.  We have taken the time to evaluate this browser in Beta form - we want to make sure that our clients have the best features and that their website design and website development is compatible in as many platforms as possible.  With Opera on the forefront of mobile and gaming browser compatibility - being the browser of choice by Nintendo’s Wii system (as well as others) - it has caused us to make sure our sites are compatible.  If you are unsure whether your website design/website development is cross-browser compatible - contact us and we will do a simple usability assesment on your existing website and can offer solutions and upgrades from Indiana Web Design.

Snow Gone In Goshen, Indiana - Web Design still here

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Well, the snow has almost but entirely melted in Goshen, Indiana; Warsaw Indiana; Elkhart, Indiana and the rest of Indiana and Southern Michigan. The snow may be gone (for now) but the web design world moves forward with great strides. The hot news in the web design world right now is that Microsoft has tested it’s version 8.0 of internet explorer and it has passed one of the standards test that they have never passed in previous versions. This came entirely as a shock to the web design and web development community. Better late than never some were saying. Web standards is a great idea and will help eliminate some of the time spent to make websites render consistantly amoungst the many web browsers - which always makes web developers go bald by pulling their hair out (and can sometimes bring some unwanted language) - none-the-less, it is great to see the software giant taking steps into the world of standards and making things slightly more simple for us Indiana web design companies. One small step in the right direction is better than none at all, so we are greatful.

If your site looks different between Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari or any of the other browsers available and you would like your web site design to be consistent, contact Indiana Web Design for more information on Browser compatibility and how we can help make your website be more effective.

Who in their right mind would want to slight Apple?

Friday, December 21st, 2007

As an Indiana Web Design company, we are extremely grateful for Apple and all their amazing products. What they do make our web design jobs easier and it continues to get easier with every great idea that the folks at Apple release. So, who in their right mind would even desire to give MS an early jump on copying them? In the news today, it was stated that many have made a business out of exposing the newest ideas Apple comes up with, before they release. Are they trying to let MS have the upper hand. Everyone knows that if Apple releases some amazing, creative new technology, it will be a matter of a few years and Microsoft will have their buggy-sloppy attempted knock off. Why give the ideas out to a company that has prov’en they don’t really come up with good ideas, they just implement the ideas the public wants into their package?  Well, as stated today, one of the major information leak sites has agreed to stop what they are doing.  But it seems absurd to me, owner of a small Indiana web development company, that Apple would have to pay out (applied in the article, not stated) in order to keep their secrets safe from the big copycats.  But this is the insane society we live in - every journalist is out for a scoop, a story, no matter how WRONG they may be, or what damage they may cause in writing what they write, they do it for their own glory - it’s quite disgusting.  It would be like an Indiana web design company creating a website, building it to work only 2/3 of the time and selling it to as many companies would buy.  How ridiculous!  We believe in good business ethics and publishing others ideas before they release them in order to allow their competition an early look - that’s pretty low.  Don’t just take the word of an Indiana Web Design company owner, read the full story for yourself.

Web browsers at it again - what does this mean for Indiana Web Design?

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

So, it appears that Opera has filed an antitrust complaint with the European Union concerning the ongoing monopoly of the Microsoft Corperation.  Many are in an uproar about the lack of internet standard within web browsers - of which Microsoft Interet Explorer leads the way.  Web design and web development companies spend a large majority of the project time making sure standards are met and that our sites look consistant within major web browsers.  The claims being made against Microsoft are similar to those the federal governmant filed against the Renton, Washington based company in 2001 - which, Microsoft lost.

“We are filing this complaint on behalf of all consumers who are tired of having a monopolist make choices for them,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera. “In addition to promoting the free choice of individual consumers, we are a champion of open Web standards and cross-platform innovation. We cannot rest until we’ve brought fair and equitable options to consumers worldwide.” - this incerpt was taken from the Opera website (read full story).

Web developers worldwide, as well as Indiana Web Designers, are concerned that standards may only be something we dream about.  Until users are educated about the computer they use and see that they have choices, the largest will always stay on top - even if they are not the best option.  So, for now, Indaina web design and Indiana web development will continue to manipulate code to meet each web browser’s idea of what standards should be.  In my opinion, the world would be a better place if everyone used Firefox for browsing and Google for searching.
